It is a kind of skin disorder which is more associated with children than it is with adults. It is normally referred to as rashes as with the cases of babies. It normally occurs on the face near the nose and mouth. It is caused by bacterial infections through cuts or insect bites. Impetigo normally starts as a red sore which continuously increases in size and after which it quickly ruptures after which it oozes for a few days and then it forms a yellowish-brown crust that looks like honey or brown sugar in appearance. The disease is a highly contagious type and scratching and touching the sores is more likely to spread the infection to other regions of the body.

But the best thing about impetigo is that it is seldom serious a problem. If left untreated it clears on there own within two to three weeks. But sometimes impetigo can also lead to some other serious complications. This is why impetigo should always be treated with seriousness and your Childs doctor must choose to treat them with an antibiotic ointments or oral antibiotics. Your child can usually return to school or a child-care setting as soon as he or she isn't contagious — often within 24 hrs of treatment.

Treatment procedure: If the problem is mild enough than over the counter drugs are good enough to take care of your problem. Normally over the counter drugs reacts well to athletes feet. But however if the problem is severe you need a prescription drugs or oral medication.
